Being in Awareness

In the still pool of retreat silence there is the possibility of seeing ourselves and others more clearly. Infusing our body, heart and mind with present-moment awareness can reveal our essential goodness, innocence and love, and can allow us to see this in others. It can also show us layers of physical and emotional tension and pain.
This retreat will offer meditation practices and teachings which support present-moment, embodied awareness and cultivate our capacity for meeting and transforming suffering into a sense of deep well-being.

Along with periods of sitting and walking meditation, there will be opportunities to participate in chi gong and other activities which help to relax mind and body so that we may know our heart and mind, often dulled by over-thinking, with greater vividness and subtlety. We can open to a profound experience of presence, pointing the way to our true home.
We will offer dharma talks and group and individual meetings and there will also be periods of open, self-guided practice.

Sharda Rogell has been practising and teaching Buddhist Insight Meditation for over 35 years and is on the Teacher Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Centre in California. She has received teachings in many spiritual traditions including her root teacher, H.W.L.Poonja, and in the Dzogchen tradition and has been a student of A.H.Almaas in the Diamond Heart School for the past 14 years.
Erin Taylor teaches meditation with Original Nature Insight Meditation based in Wellington. She often teaches chi gong alongside meditation as a way of deepening and grounding spiritual practice.
