Knowing One Taste
During this daylong on the serene grounds of the monastery, we will draw on the practices of mindfulness and metta (lovingkindness) to deepen our understanding of the way things are. The Buddha said, “To seek what is permanent in what is impermanent is wrong view.” We will explore the way our mind tends to solidify things and experiences thereby creating a sense of self in a world that seems separated from us. Holding on to this view gives rise to our sorrows. As our understanding deepens, the mind can release its grasping and confusion and drop fully into the heart of awakening.
This daylong is open to both new students and those with previous meditation experience.
Dana
This retreat is offered in the spirit of dana (generosity). Sharda, like the monastery, relies on dana to sustain herself and her teaching. Therefore there is no set fee for the retreat. Please offer a generous dana to Sharda to assist her to continue teaching the dharma.
There will also be an opportunity to offer dana to the monastery and to Original Nature Insight Meditation.
Lunch
Retreatants will take part in the monastic ritual of offering and sharing the midday meal – also called Dana. Please bring a contribution of food to share.
Tea etc will be provided.
