Wise Mind, Compassionate Heart

A six week meditation course

led by Peter Fernando

7:30 – 9:00pm, Tuesdays
July 28 to September 1, 2015
Pa Maria, 78 Hobson St, Thorndon

Wisdom and compassion are the two wings of the spiritual path, and the essential foundations of a mindful life. They underlie all Buddhist practices and mind trainings, and provide a compass with which to relate to others, the world, and our very own hearts and minds.

Without the faculty of wisdom our practice can easily become mere habit, and lose the freshness and authenticity needed to awaken out of patterns of suffering and pain. Without compassion, we can easily become numb to the reality of our own emotional life, and the needs of others and the world around us.

When the two function together, the result is an ever deepening sense of being at ease with this human experience, in all its flavours, and a strength of heart that comes through opening and trusting, rather than ‘hardening up’.

In this course we will explore ways of bringing this wise and compassionate inquiry to life, through attending to how we relate to ourselves, the world around us, and the meditative path itself. Each session will consist of guided meditations, talks and the opportunity for dialogue and discussion.

Cost: $120
