For us in the West, the practice of self-kindness is a key component of deepening into well being and presence.
When we come to sit quietly with ourselves we may become aware of a pervasive tendency to self-criticism, compulsive judgment, or an underlying belief that ‘something is wrong with me’.
Rather than trying to bypass these forces in the mind and heart, there is great wisdom in training our awareness to relate to them directly – to question them, recognize the pain they cause, and find ways of unfolding the contracted state they generate.
Attending in this way doesn’t lead to a state of weakness – on the contrary, this practice opens us into a real sense of strength. The strength to choose to value ourselves, to have healthy boundaries, and to regard others in a space of authentic loving.
This course will consist of guided meditations, talks, and opportunities for discussion and dialogue.
